Corn-StalksThe State Food Purchase Program (SFPP) supplements the efforts of food banks, shelters, soup kitchens and food pantries to reduce hunger. Individuals and households that are receiving unemployment compensation, SNAP assistance benefits, cash assistance, medical assistance or have a household income at or below 150% of the U.S poverty level may be eligible to receive food through the SFPP.

Pennsylvania is one of a few states in the nation to provide state revenues for an emergency assistance food program for its low-income citizens. This is the largest program of its kind.

The SFPP provides the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania with grants to purchase nutritious food items that might not normally be received as donated product. Second Harvest is the lead SFPP agency for Clarion, Erie, Forest and Jefferson counties.

Individuals can participate in the program by visiting a SFPP distribution site in your area. You will need to complete a Self-Declaration of Need Form at the emergency member agency.
