AmeriCorps Vista – Service Year 2024 – 2025
Project Description:
SHFB is implementing a Service Insights Initiative, which is an approach to collect and track data across the Feeding America network to improve efforts to alleviate hunger across the nation. Through this initiative, SHFB will be contributing to the largest national data infrastructure to understand hunger through local, regional, and national data, shape advocacy efforts, enhance food delivery systems and programs, and prioritize equity, diversity, and inclusion through more accurate data about our neighbors in need. The VISTA member will work towards the development and initial groundwork to build SHFB’s electronic data collection process throughout both the food bank and the network of agency partners. The VISTA member will test the Service Insights platform, set up accounts for agency partners, and assist with onboarding and training agency partners in use of the platform.

Grant and Development Department Writer
Experienced, high-performing problem solver with an aptitude for time and budget management and organization. The applicant should provide outstanding customer service and be an enthusiastic professional able to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders. This position will work closely with fundraising, accounting and program staff and is responsible for supporting the management and coordination of a large portfolio of private and public contracts. Must be able to organize and discern work priorities, meet deadlines with little supervision and be flexible enough to shift priorities as new grant opportunities arise. The position will work with a direct mail company to manage the direct mail and newsletter campaigns of the organization. Produce & Agricultural Coordinator
Procure produce and other agricultural products to meet the nutritional needs a food insecure families in our 11 county service area. Procurement methods will include solicitation of donations, purchasing products, and other hybrid methods. Maintain excellent relationships with local, regional, state and national donors of agricultural products. Coordinate seasonal gleaning program and serve as a support and back up to the Food Rescue and Food Sourcing Coordinators. Learn More: Produce & Agriculture Coordinator
Volunteer Project Lead
The Volunteer Project Lead primarily works with volunteers and coordinates the processing of salvage/distressed products, food drive donations, and other items for distribution to member agencies. Warehouse Worker/Receiver
The person in this position is responsible for all aspects of receiving product for Second Harvest Food Bank of NW PA. Also assists with the handling, storing, processing and distribution of food products to charitable feeding programs. Learn More: Warehouse Worker/Receiver
