Farmer-harvesting-vegetablesThe Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania obtains food and grocery products for distribution to food-insecure people across 11 counties in northwest Pennsylvania.

This is done through a variety of ways.

Food Distribution to Anti-Hunger Network – member agencies including food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, Kids Cafes, Just-in-Time Deliveries, and other non-profit organizations help to distribute food to our neighbors in need.

Programs – Programs administered by Second Harvest include Produce Express, Military Share, the BackPack Program, School Pantries, Senior Box Program and the Milk Initiative provide unique solutions to reach seniors, adults and children in need of food.

Government programs – both the State Food Purchase Program and The Emergency Food Assistance Program are provided through government nutrition assistance to provide grocery items directly to those in need.
