Furthering its longstanding commitment to ensuring those most in need do not go hungry, Citizens Bank has donated $10,000 to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania to support its annual Thanksgiving dinner distribution program. The donation will provide Thanksgiving dinner boxes to 396 families in Erie, Crawford and Venango counties, helping hundreds of local families enjoy the holiday season.

“More and more people depend on food bank programs to help them put food on the table, and the holiday season can be particularly difficult for families facing food insecurity,” said Daniel K. Fitzpatrick, president of Citizens Bank of Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. “Citizens is proud to once again team up with the Second Harvest Food Bank for our sixth year of providing traditional Thanksgiving meals to those in need.”

Food vouchers were distributed to needy families through the member agencies of Second Harvest. Each box will be filled with traditional holiday food items including: a turkey, corn, green beans, instant potatoes, sweet potatoes, turkey stuffing, turkey gravy, rolls, cranberry sauce, applesauce, crackers, cranberry juice, grape juice, chocolate-covered strawberries and a frozen pie.

“Citizens Bank has once again embraced the spirit of giving back during the holiday season,” said Karen S. Seggi, executive director of Second Harvest. “Because of their generosity, hundreds of families will be able to sit down for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. We are so grateful for their continued support.”

Food truck distributions will take place Friday, Nov. 18t, through Monday, Nov. 21, at various locations in Oil City, Meadville and Erie.
