Day 6 Breakfast Out of all of the days of the challenge, Day 6 was the one I was most concerned about. I would be starting a new part-time job and was wondering how the challenge would impact my first day on the job. I made sure to wake up early enough to eat both my breakfast and lunch before leaving for work. When I woke up, I was hungry. I ate 3 oz. of yogurt and a whole banana. The bananas have become very ripe, I knew I could eat a whole one on Day 6 and Day 7. I normally don’t like my bananas this ripe and will put them in the freezer until I have enough to make bread. Since I don’t have the rest of the ingredients to make bread, my only option is to eat them.

I had a lazy morning, leisurely getting myself ready for the day and to head into work. I had to be to work at noon and wanted to leave around 11:30 a.m. So I started preparing my lunch at 11:00 a.m. I had a fried egg on a toasted English muffin with a spinach salad and some cheese slices. I was hoping that would be enough to last through my 7.5 hour shift. Luckily, the first day of a new job is usually busy, you’re learning the in’s and out’s of your position. This was the case for about half of the day. The second half of my work day was a bit slower, I could tell I was starting to get hungry around 4:30 p.m. During my break, I sat down and had two large cups of water. I tried Day 6 Lunchto suppress the feeling of being hungry by drinking more water. It didn’t really work.

Toward the end of my shift, I was being trained on closing out a register. While counting money, I could tell my brain was lagging. My manager was explaining that I needed to take $.76 out of the drawer to even out the change. I began clearing out all of the change. I got to the dimes before she stopped me. “How silly of me” I thought. I know how to count $.76 in change. After finishing up with the drawer and some mopping, I was heading home. By that time, I had a massive headache. The worst of the week by far!

I was hoping, as I prepared my dinner, that the headache would go away once I ate my dinner. I had dinner around 8:15 p.m. I made a new dish tonight using rice, leftover black beans and canned tomatoes. I added the black beans and 1/2 can of canned tomatoes to the rice with a dash of leftover chili seasoning mix from last Sunday. I mixed in a cup of sour cream and some shredded cheese. This is a variation of a dish I have made for myself in the past. I enjoyed the flavor of something new. I was still hungry and remembered I had some leftover cake from the staff luncheon on Friday and I had half of the peanut butter banana “ice cream” I made the other night. I had them both for dessert. The ice cream tasted much better than it did on Thursday.

Unfortunately the headache did not go away, I felt like I couldn’t do much of anything. It was a very intense and sharp headache. I was already tired from working and the headache just added toDay 6 Dinner my tiredness. Luckily, I didn’t have anything pressing I needed to accomplish in the evening. I am also thankful I did not experience this headache earlier in the day.
